The Flair Tiger Moth is designed for those with some experience looking for a larger near scale biplane. It is straightforward to build and the time that has been spent preparing the instructions and diagrams will make construction a pleasure to produce a model of which the builder can be proud of.
the Attila Is a small semi scale scout. It is loosely based on the Fokker Eindecker and provides much fun for the weekend flyer who wants minimum transport problems.
The Magnattila was one of the first of the Flair Scouts to be designed and has stood the test of time superbly. The kit is supplied in the standard land based version but like the Puppeteer vintage floats can be fitted thus providing a perfect introduction to float plane flying. Many a Magnattila has been used successfully as a first aileron model.
The spec. for the Hannibal was quite simple; to design a slow easy to fly large model that had the semi scale lines of a WWI vintage aircraft and to achieve this with a very simple method of construction. Many a Hannibal has been used for camera carrying, toffee dropping, engine testing and all manner of other things; such is its versatility. The kit does not include flying wires.
This is an updated version of the ever popular Puppeteer of which Flair have sold over 10000. The new plans and instructions are fully detailed with isometric drawings showing all stages of construction. The front fuselage incorporates a greater use of die cut components and the engine now mounts on beech bearers. The external shape of the "Pup" remains the same and the flying characteristics continue to be docile enough for the Sunday flyer. Like the Magnattila this aircraft can be fitted with floats for even more interest. We have flown it off water with a standard 40 s stroke and it performed superbly.
Although quite a large aircraft the F2b was impressive in its manoeuvrability and posed a considerable threat to its opponents. The Flair F2b is designed with a scale outline. The kit includes much detail such as the gun mount, closed loop systems for the rudder and elevators, plus router cut horns and radiator parts. The finished
Flairs SE5A is a good representation of this famous first world war aircraft and whilst very forgiving in less experienced hands it can also perform impressive aerobatics for the more experienced. Just like the real thing in fact about which the great ace S E McCudden wrote ...a most efficient fighting machine, far and away superior to the enemy machines of that period....
The Fokker D7 was a well designed and highly effective fighting aircraft. It was respected by the Allied Flying Corps. Like the full size the model too exhibits good flying characteristics. It is relatively easy to build the only tedious task being the scale lozenge pattern of camouflage colours if you opt to use this scheme. When complete though the model looks convincing and stands out from the crowd in the pits.
The Baronette Builds into a realistic sport scale model of this famous aircraft and provides a superb mount for exciting dog fights. Three simply built flat wings, with ailerons in one only, make building straightforward. The high undercarriage necessitates careful rudder steering on take off; this is then rewarded by surprisingly stable flight characteristics.
The DR1 is not a beginners model but neither is it difficult to build or fly. We have seen many a superb example of this model at our fun fly and some with extraordinary detail. There was no rigging on the full size DR1 so one of the disadvantages of scale vintage aircraft can be avoided immediately. A great model for those looking for something a little larger.
The Legionaire is Flairs scout series version of the famous Nieuport 17. Not a biplane, not a monoplane but a sesquiplane the bottom wing being half the area of the top wing. The Nieuport 17 was well respected by many pilots including aces such as Guynemer, Nungessor, Bishop and Mannock during WW1. Just like the real thing the model requires careful rudder control on take off but then becomes an absolute delight when in the air..
